This year, we will be holding the lecture series on the First & Third Thursday’s of the month – each month – until November 15th
Tonight’s lecture will be: “Prostitution, Vice Lords, Drugs, Crime, Politicians and Kickbacks”
Reno and Storey County 1900 – 1950
Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. and lecture starts at 7:00 p.m.
This lecture is an eye opener into our colored past.
Reno held national prominence and influence with Vice Lords, drugs, crime, prostitution and kickbacks in high political places.
The Vice Lords literally owned and operated Reno the biggest city in the State.
The speaker, Mike Fischer, a life long Nevadan and former Dental Surgeon, Once retired he served as the “Director of the Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs” under Governor Gibbons and Governor Sandoval’s Cabinet until the department was formally disbanded.
He is now an independent scholar whose interests include the history of Nevada, cowboys, ranching, politics, bootlegging, gambling and crime.
Lecture starts at 7:00 p.m. and costs $5 per person.
