DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to continue our 2018 Lecture Series with the Comstock Foundation for History and Culture! \nThis year\, we will be holding the lecture series on the First & Third Thursday’s of the month – each month – until November 15th \nTonight’s lecture will be: “Logging on the Comstock\, Fire Management\, and What to Expect in the Future” \nDinner starts at 5:30 p.m. and lecture starts at 7:00 p.m. \nDescription:\nLogging history and fire have changed the landscape and the forests of Northern Nevada\, and going forward they are the two most important management issues to consider. \nLiterally\, hundreds of millions of board feet of lumber were used in the mines on the Comstock. \nWe can learn a great deal about the future by taking a close look at what has happened since gold was discovered in the area around 1852.  The Conservation Movement\, the creation of the US Forest Service\, the Environmental Movement have all taken place since the Mining Era and changed everything.\n\nSpeaker:\nScott Imus is a retired environmental consultant with an MS in Forestry from the University of Washington. Been in Nevada since 1987.\nLecture starts at 7:00 p.m. and costs $5 per person. \nCome early and enjoy dinner before the lecture!
