Lecture Series Continues – Thursday, June 1st with David & Gayle Woodruff’s Chautauqua performance – “James Reed and his wife Margret, Organizers and Survivors of the 1846 Donner Party”
We are pleased to continue the 2023 Lecture Series at the Historic Gold Hill Hotel!
Dinner starts at 4:30 p.m. and lecture starts at 7:00 p.m.
James Reed and his wife Margret. Survivors and original organizers of the Donner Party of 1846. George led efforts through the severe winter of 1846-47 to rescue his family and many others in his party. Margret, with sheer strength, determination and bravery, kept their children alive and hopeful in James’s absence. This story also relives the heroic efforts of complete strangers and severely injured Donner Party members, who risked their own lives to save others. A very compelling and “edge of your seat” story.
